Organic Swiss ChardThe development of Mulberry Farms has been quite a journey so far. We’ve been so delighted to break ground – both literally and figuratively. It seems like just yesterday that we officially became the owners, or stewards if you will, of the old Edwards Farm. Here is a recap of the last couple years, and our plan for the year to come!

2014

  • Acquired farm parcel: Maine Farmland Trust
  • Barn addition completed
  • Construction on farmhouse began
  • Began Organic Certification dialogue with MOFGA
  • Two unheated hoop houses completed
  • Four field acres prepped
  • Cover crops planted

2015

  • Farmhouse completed
  • Four acres planted
  • Two additional parcels purchased
  • Drip irrigation installed
  • Deer and pest fencing installed
  • Portable roadside farm stand open
  • Acquired first commercial customers
  • Beginning of Name Recognition and brand building

2016

  • Increase water with farm pond and wells
  • Seven and a half acres in production
  • Permanent farm stand with cooking kitchen
  • ADA accessible U-Pick row/ramp system
  • Organic Certification in April
  • Install heated high tunnels
  • Farm events for customer engagement
